The Collectors

I am reviewing the spy thriller The Collectors by David Baldacci which is a very good story which I bought from a car boot sale. This book is part of the Camel Club series about a CIA cell of that name that goes about solving crime connected to espionage. This story is largely about money laundering on behalf of the NSA to fund terrorist activities which if you remember the Iran-Contra scandal is quite plausible. The story starts with the murder of an art collector who has left everything to a member of the Camel Club. He has also been robbed so the Camel Club has a vested interest. A lady has been helping the baddies launder money mostly by buying rare books and art and she has been set up for the murder. The Camel Club are her only hope. Also the fire suppresion system in the White House has been knocked out to provide the baddies with a way in there and the Camel Club have to find the plans to the suppresion system. It does turn out the money laundering is on behalf of terrorists and of course they are eager to kill the people investigating them. They also have to contend with a hitman who lives near the White House and uses a false identity and is a supposed anti government protester. There is a happy ending and possibly room for a sequel to this story as there are still some loose ends. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it & I think the kind of books Baldacci does he does very well.
